Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill three (3) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) CoE Web Developer-Support Assistant position for the College of Engineering at Oregon State University ( OSU ).

The College of Engineering is looking for students with front-end web development experience to join our team. We seek individuals who are eager to learn and collaborate, self-motivated, adaptable, proactive, and unafraid to ask questions or experiment to find optimal solutions. This part-time, hourly position offers a maximum of 20 hours per week as a web developer for the College of Engineering at Oregon State University.

Transferable Skill Development

Position Duties

  1. 65% Front-end website development: Collaborate closely with design, developers, and the Marketing and Communications team in an iterative product development process, and help create responsive design and user-focused digital experiences for the CoE web presence.
  2. 25% Website support duties: Duties will include web support efforts around accessibility, maintenance, service desk, and other college website priorities.
  3. 10% Other duties as assigned: Websites are a changing and growing technology, and other competencies are required such as basic photo manipulation skills, media management, analytics, and more.
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services ( OIS ), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Full time student enrolled in the College of Engineering.
  • Self-starter excited to learn, proactive and not afraid to ask questions.
  • Fluency with CSS, HTML and JS to program pages and page elements.
  • Collaborative, team player with great communication skills.
  • Experience with Front-end web development.
  • Ability to work closely with designers, developers and marketing team.
  • Work with designers and marketing professionals on advanced web designs to build custom web pages.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex web development issues and propose solutions without extensive oversight.
  • Ability to work on responsive website designs and user-focused digital experiences.
  • Collaboration with a wider team to create a web presence that supports the CoE’s external relations goals.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down ambiguous tasks into clear, actionable steps.
  • Experience learning new frameworks, tools, or coding techniques quickly and applying them effectively to real projects.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative—identifying gaps, suggesting improvements, and implementing enhancements to websites or workflows.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and deliver high-quality work.
  • Knowledge and experience with Bootstrap, Drupal or comparable CMS.
  • Experience working with CMS-based platforms (Drupal, WordPress, etc.).
  • Experience building or managing a website
  • Comfortable working with code.
  • Literacy in MS Office suite, Google suite,
  • Bonus if experience working with modular environments
  • Bonus if experience working with Azure DevOps
  • Interest in UX.UI
  • Added bonus if experience with design or the Adobe Suite
  • Added bonus if proficient in JQery
