Description
The City of Anaheim Public Libraries seek a qualified Part Time Library Bookmobile Clerk (Driver) to support the Mobile Library's endeavor to bring the library to the neighborhoods and schools. Under general supervision, the Bookmobile Clerk operates the Mobile Library on a scheduled route, making predetermined stops to provides direct services to the public related to the circulation of library books and materials. The Bookmobile Clerk also performs additional library duties, such as collecting library fines and fees, assisting patrons with registration, and provides basic information regarding library policies and materials. As the primary caretaker over Mobile Library, the Bookmobile Clerk also makes assessments of vehicle safety and operability, makes recommendations regarding changes or improvements to scheduled stops, and performs related work as required.
Candidates must have completed high school (or obtained the GED), have at least one (1) year of clerical experience involving customer service to the public, and possess a valid California Class C Driver's License.
Experience operating a large or commercial vehicle, possession of a valid commercial driver's license, working with children, working in a library and Bilingual Spanish verbal ability are desirable.

- Drives a motorized mobile library vehicle on a scheduled route making predetermined stops, and provides library services to bookmobile patrons, including adults, youths, and children.
- Performs all circulation functions such as checking out and checking in materials, retrieving holds, shelving, filing, arranging items in order, and processing requests for book reservations.
- Performs daily routine maintenance checks on vehicle including oil, tires, and vehicle equipment; records hours of engine and generator; notifies supervisor if any issues are identified during the vehicle inspection or schedules maintenance or repairs.
- Performs a wide variety of routine clerical duties to support operations, including filing, preparing records and basic reports, cashiering duties, and ordering and maintaining office and related supplies.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records, verifies accuracy of information, researches discrepancies, and records information.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Environmental Conditions:
- Employees are stationed primarily within a vehicle serving as the library bookmobile clerk and spend a significant amount of time in daily transit.
- Incumbents may be exposed to smoke/fumes/gas, dirt/dust, grease/oil, chemicals, excessive heat/cold, inclement weather, road hazards, and high frequency noise.
- Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
- Must possess mobility to use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various Library sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and to operate standard office and bookmobile equipment. Positions in this classification regularly engage in movements such as climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, carry, push, and pull to move items, storage containers, bins of materials, and shelving units in order to retrieve and shelve items, and in order to move materials from one place to another.
- Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing an average of 20 pounds, but up to 50 pounds of weight by lifting and carrying, and up to 250 pounds of weight by pushing and pulling, with the aid of lifting/moving equipment.
