The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program). CUNY SoM is seeking a dynamic communications and marketing professional dedicated to developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the SoM’s goals, target audience and brand identity. The role will work collaboratively with the Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations (PR) team to drive brand awareness and engagement through strategic content marketing. The Communications Electronic Media Manager will oversee the creation of high-quality and compelling content across multiple platforms, including websites, blogs, social media and email marketing campaigns. The role will also have direct involvement with optimizing content for search engine optimization (SEO) and ensuring consistent brand messaging based on collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather information and develop content that supports marketing and SoM’s medical education initiatives.
In addition to the CUNY overview, the Communications Electronic Media Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and maintains content for the SoM website and social media channels including development, accessibility, content updates, page design and graphics, and user experience for the internal website and Intranet site.
- Collaborate with designers, videographers and other stakeholders to oversee the content creation of visually appealing and multimedia-rich assets. Ensure brand consistency and compliance with the SoM style guide and voice across all content deliverables.
- Create and manager editorial calendar to deliver timely content across various digital platforms; creates a yearly social media plan to share with university social media collaborators.
- Establishes measurable goals for website and social media accounts, implements tools for measuring effectiveness, and analyzes results to make data-driven content decisions. Reviews analytics regularly to determine how users are interacting with the content and uses data to make informed decisions.
- Improves user experience and maintains effective information architecture, including overseeing and executing testing strategies to ensure continuous traffic improvements. Research industry trends, market insights and competitor analysis to inform content development and identify opportunities.
- Ensure publishing of engaging and SEO-friendly content, including articles, blog posts, website copy, social media posts and email newsletters. Assist with basic design projects such as creating fillable PDFs, creating internal invitations, presentations and various requests from the Dean’s Office and SoM faculty and staff.
- Manage and maintain content repositories, including content management systems (CMS), and ensure content is organized and easily accessible for future use. Monitor and analyze content performance metrics, such as website traffic, engagement rates and conversions, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, emerging trends and evolving content formats to enhance content marketing initiatives continually. Writes and edits publications and internal/external communications as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a content manager, content strategist, web design or similar role.
- Experience using Modern Camps Omni CMS, PowerPoint, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with a strong command of grammar.
- Demonstrates an ability to create high-quality, engaging, SEO-friendly content across digital and print platforms.
- Familiarity with content distribution and amplification strategies, including social media advertising and influencer marketing.
- Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and web design best practices.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), HTML, JAVA, CSS, or other web design protocol.
- Experience using analytics tools to monitor content performance and make data-driven decisions like Google Analytics.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to priorities tasks and meet deadlines.
- An analytical mindset to interpret data and metrics and optimize content performance.
- Cultural understanding and sensitivity to tailor content to our target audience’s preferences, interests and nuances.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast -paced environment.
- Proficiency in content management and social media tools like HubSpot and/or Buffer.

- Manages electronic, online and multi-media communications, providing editorial, technical and production expertise.
- Consults with client staff to assess needs and determine design and technical specifications.
- Plans communications messages, formats, and designs which meet clients’ needs and have impact with the intended audience(s).
- Coordinates the efforts of internal and external professionals to implement and disseminate electronic media projects.
- Creates and maintain databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects.
- Develops production policies and standards and adheres to communications and branding standards.
- Supervises staff as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $74,249 - $86,741
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
