As a Design Director of Intimate Apparel, you will be responsible for creating designs exclusively for Private Brands and developing trend strategies that support the Walmart Apparel Strategic Business Unit (SBU) merchandising goals. You will ensure Walmart’s private brand DNA/guidelines, trends, aesthetics, quality, and value align with customer needs and lead the market. You will set the brand’s seasonal fashion direction and coordinate with broader Walmart strategies. You will help ensure merchant leadership is aligned with the creative direction and assortment. Responsibilities
Brand Execution: Oversee all aspects of the brand including brand management, design, merchandising analytics, and storytelling. Lead the design vision and ensure adherence to brand guidelines; translate vision into product using appropriate materials and supplier networks. Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing on supplier matrix, direct imports, pricing, and supplier relations. Partner with marketing and brand services to ensure cohesive brand execution across packaging and promotions. Merchandising Differentiation and Competitive Advantage: Understand the competitive landscape and develop strategies to win in omni retail environments; continuously offer new experiences to increase market share, customer wallet share, and retention. Partnership with Leaders: Align brand collections and strategy with other business unit strategies; collaborate with omni Merchandising Operations to meet Omni SBU objectives. Transformative Talent Development: In partnership with People Partner, develop a talent strategy to transform the Design Team and foster a high-performance culture. Brand Customer Experience: Deliver Walmart-exclusive brand experiences across channels (stores and Walmart.com) by offering high-quality, high-value private label collections; enhance customer experience to drive sales and satisfaction. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Option 1 – Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, design, or related area and 5 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or related area; Option 2 – 7 years’ experience in design, merchandising, marketing, or related area. 1 year supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications: Corporate leadership experience in Business Administration, Merchandising, Sourcing or relevant field; cross-functional project management; Master’s degree in Liberal Arts or relevant field.
