Job Description

Senior Advertising Art Director (Manager) at JCPenney. This role is open to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of experience in art direction and design. The position reports to an Associate Creative Director in the marketing department and collaborates with a team of art directors.

Job Responsibility

• Create compelling design for seasonal toolkits, brand launches, digital assets, social media, print collateral and special projects that drive traffic, promote immediate sales, and align with fashion and brand image goals.
• Apply insights from creative briefs to create effective visual executions that motivate customers.
• Ensure projects are on-brand, well thought-out and well designed.
• Communicate effectively with project management to meet deadlines and project requirements.
• Stay informed about retail trends and provide insights on the retail landscape and competitor set.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments

• Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or Advertising
• 8+ years of design, graphic arts, and production experience (agency or in-house marketing preferred)
• Retail fashion experience preferred
• Strong layout skills for print, digital and social media
• Excellent typography with attention to size, hierarchy, kerning and leading
• Photo art direction experience (lifestyle, studio, on-figure, stills)
• Motion graphics or animation experience is a plus
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); working knowledge of Microsoft Office; After Effects preferred
• Strong visualization, conceptual thinking and ability to present work to stakeholders
• Excellent time management, communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Growth mindset and can-do attitude
