We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and motivated Design Manager to join our team in a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will oversee the design, permitting, and procurement of airport improvement projects, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of design professionals, guiding them through the design process and providing mentorship and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the design, permitting, and construction-procurement phases of complex airport improvement projects, ensuring timely and effective project delivery.
- Design Oversight & Compliance:
- Ensure that all project designs adhere to established design criteria, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to maintain design accuracy, integrity, and quality throughout the project’s life cycle.
- Review and approve design documents, ensuring alignment with project goals, budget constraints, and timeline expectations.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Communication:
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, contractors, and project owners to ensure the design meets requirements and expectations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for design-related inquiries, facilitating clear, proactive communication among all involved parties.
- Risk Management & Problem Resolution:
- Identify potential design issues early and work with the team to resolve them to prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Monitor design progress and make necessary adjustments to meet objectives, timelines, and budget.
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
- Implement best practices for design management and drive process improvements and efficiencies where applicable.
- Ensure designs maintain a high standard of quality, safety, and innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Licensure: Professionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience managing the design of large, complex building projects, utilities, and infrastructure improvements; aviation design experience preferred; experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams.
- Skills & Expertise: Strong understanding of design processes from concept to construction; knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting airport design and construction.
Compensation
$104k-136k. The expected salary range is displayed in accordance with state law. Final compensation based on qualifications and experience.
