Position Summary

Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Assessment Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor or Librarian Associate Professor faculty position in the University Libraries, with a preferred start date of October 2025. Rank is determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with credentials. This position is based in Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the integration of evidence-based decision making through assessment of library initiatives focused on student engagement and academic success.
  • Coordinate data gathering on the use of library services, resources, spaces and web presence, contributing to data-informed planning, action items, and reporting (e.g., SACSCOC, annual reports, iPEDS).
  • Write and create reports and documents related to assessment initiatives (e.g., SACSCOC documentation, annual reports, surveys).
  • Engage with diverse user communities to identify priorities, needs, and experiences related to the University Libraries.
  • Prepare and deliver internal training and documentation of assessment methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with KSU departments and units that support assessment activities (e.g., Office of Institutional Research, Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment).
  • Maintain working knowledge of emerging trends in assessment and user experience.
  • Provide instruction in research and information literacy for both face-to-face and online classes.
  • Engage in service to the University Libraries, the campus, and/or the profession.
  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity; contribute to the development of the library profession through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Note: The role may require occasional hours beyond normal business times to serve student needs and will involve work on both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • An earned terminal degree (e.g., MLIS or equivalent) appropriate to a contemporary research-intensive library, or foreign equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an academic library, related institution, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong follow-up skills.
  • Evidence of professional service and scholarship in academic librarianship or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience designing assessment projects, collecting and analyzing data; lead assessment initiatives and benchmarking.
  • Experience with quantitative research using statistical software (SPSS, SAS, Stata) and/or data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Gephi).
  • Project management, scheduling, and deadline-oriented work experience.
