Overview

Telos Group, Inc. is seeking a Contract Grant Writer to lead efforts to secure funding for our mission and programs. This contractor will research, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies. They will collaborate with Telos’ staff on an as-needed basis to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify prospective funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and public agencies.
  • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and related materials.
  • Collaborate with staff to gather and synthesize data, stories, and program outcomes for proposals and reports.
  • Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar, tracking application deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
  • Prepare interim and final reports for funders, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
  • Support Telos’s relationships with funders and philanthropic partners as needed.
  • Track and report on grant activity and success rates to inform fundraising strategy.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, social sciences, humanities, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Proven track record of securing grant funding from foundations, corporations, and/or government agencies.
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations is preferred.

Core Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for various audiences.
  • Strong research skills, including assessing funding alignment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; familiarity with grant management systems a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with staff.
