Job Description

Client administrative fees may be deducted where applicable. Our payment terms are Net 30, and we guarantee payment within Net 30 regardless of the client’s payment status to us. Location: Onsite in Wisconsin. Candidates must be current WI residents or willing to relocate prior to starting the role.
Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision of the DNR Radio Specialist, provide specialized technical and comprehensive support, consultation, and training services for Department staff on P25 and analog conventional radio systems owned and operated by the DNR.
- Support, configure, maintain, and install radio systems and the encompassing technologies. Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing standards for radio systems within multiple DNR divisions.
- Assist in managing DNR radio systems including repeaters, handheld radios, mobile radios, vehicle repeaters, base stations and other ancillary technologies that incorporate radio technologies.
- Provide guidance on interoperability of radio equipment and frequencies; assist in developing purchase requests for radio systems and equipment; assist in administration of FCC frequencies licensed to DNR.
- Monitor and respond to trouble/help tickets; perform yearly maintenance and programming; assist DNR customers with radio requests; install vehicle and office radios; perform other technical work to maintain and manage a fleet of radios.
- Engage in extensive field work and travel; hands-on work in installing and maintaining radio systems; support radio needs for wildland firefighting and public safety needs.
- Collaborate with the DNR Radio Program staff and vendors for lifecycle management of radio-based systems; assist in directing vendors when required.
- Coordinate with the WI State Patrol BNEDI technicians for backbone maintenance needs and support across multiple divisions (State Forests, State Parks, Natural Heritage Conservation, Wildlife, Forestry programs).

- Knowledge of conventional VHF radio system operability (2+ years)
- Technical competency with electronic equipment (2+ years)
- Experience with vehicle and office electronics installation (2+ years)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (2+ years)
- Ability to work alone or in a team environment (2+ years)

- Proficiency with radio test equipment (service monitors, antenna analyzers, etc.)
- Proficiency with radio programming
- Experience with cabling and network attached equipment
- Experience troubleshooting radio equipment
