Complementary and Alternative Therapist - Hospice

Medi Home Hospice, a member of the Medical Services of America family, seeks an experienced Complementary and Alternative Therapist for Hospice Patients in Charlottesville and Culpeper (50 Mile Radius), VA.

Base pay range: $40,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr. This range is provided by Medical Services of America. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complementary and alternative therapy services in accordance with the physician’s plan of treatment and individual care plan.
  • Provide initial assessment to the patients and families within 5 days of referral.
  • Develop individualized complementary and alternative therapy plan of care following assessment pertaining to bereavement, spiritual care, and symptom management needs of patients and families.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy services with the patients and families.
  • Engage in discharge planning and terminate complementary and alternative therapy services when appropriate.
  • Document all therapy services provided to hospice patients and families in accordance with professional standards and hospice documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate the total plan of care and maintain continuity of patient care by collaborating with other health professionals. Initiate and attend patient care conferences as needed.
  • Attend team meetings, clinical group meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings pertinent to complementary and alternative therapy, bereavement, and hospice development/growth.
  • Educate patients, families, hospice staff, facility staff, and the community about the role of the complementary and alternative therapist and the use of therapy interventions.
  • Assist and/or facilitate funeral and memorial services as requested and available.
  • Adhere to confidentiality of patients, families, staff, and organization.
  • Refer patients to outside agencies/resources when necessary.
  • Participate in continuing education for professional development and growth.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, company policies and procedures, and process maps in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Practice within the scope of license, certification or registration, where applicable, and as required by law and regulation.
  • Practice safety and infection control methods.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other, similar duties as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalency in Therapy field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in health care or hospice setting preferred.
  • Must meet all applicable educational requirements as mandated by the state.
  • Board certification preferred; CBMT or similar.
