Position Details
Title: University Library Technician | Department: Library Services | Hiring Range: $33,540 - $41,585 | Position Number: 001435 | Posting Number: 0402543 | Full Time: Yes
Primary Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide effective circulation services using the library’s integrated library system and Springshare, oversee the circulation desk, and supervise Access Services staff during the absence of the Head of Access Services. The position manages the library’s circulating collections, schedules staff, and ensures the quality of library spaces.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Completion of high school and two years of experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Specialized knowledge of circulation policies and procedures, OCLC WMS and Springshare modules, and the Library of Congress Classification system.
- Client/patron service skills, including general and specific information provision and reference desk coordination.
- Data and records management skills, including report compilation and statistical analysis of collection usage.
- Instructional ability to develop basic instructional materials and finding aids.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to greet patrons and answer questions promptly.
- Planning, organizing, and supervising work for staff, including training, quality control of shelving, and supervision during evening and weekend rotations.
