Responsibilities
- This position is in the Engagement area at the Florida State University College of Music and reports to the Assistant Director of Media, Communications, and Marketing.
- This position is responsible for implementation of design principles and industry-standard tools to create visually compelling graphics for print and digital promotional materials to include brochures, flyers, posters, signage, advertisements, and schedules at the College of Music.
- Assists in management of social media and general digital presence and supports the design and visual appearance of the College of Music website(s).
- Creates all graphics for each annual concert season, guest artist activities, and other featured events. Responds to requests for content from faculty, staff, and student organizations.
- Stays informed of design trends and innovations to incorporate new ideas into promotional materials and make recommendations. Serves as the primary on-site photographer and videographer at the College of Music.
- Attends events and performances as well as rehearsals or other scheduled activities as needed to collect images and footage. Reviews and edits photo and video content as needed.
- Provides instruction to graduate assistants and other part-time employees regarding photo and video skills and techniques. Advises on execution and evaluation of student work.
- Creates engaging multimedia content to include video interviews, Instagram Reels, and other web-based graphics to showcase Music activities and achievements.
- Creates digital media for recurring events to include area/ensemble/studio tours, Honors Convocation, ThankView, University Communications requests, FSU’s Great Give, etc.
- Creates cyclical advertisements for conference materials and other community and professional outlets. Creates donor proposal documents with direction from the Development team.
- Manages the content asset library and ensures accessibility across the Communications team. This includes stored photo and video content as well as educational flyers and signage.
- In conjunction with the Communications team, ensures consistent messaging and a cohesive visual identity are employed to maximize effectiveness of continuous design strategy.
- Ensures that all materials meet Florida State University’s visual style and align with approved brand style guides to include etiquette, technical standards, accessibility, and visual style.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential to success in this position.
- Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing.
- Ability to design professional yet creative visual concepts using computer software to meet the college's informational needs and enhance its visual appeal.
- Ability to successfully prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Experience working effectively under pressure or in a fast-paced environment.
- Education and/or professional experience in digital media, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere), Canva, and Instagram to include Reels.
- A collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive working among unique populations of faculty, students, guests, and staff.
- Comfortable engaging with community members during events, conducting interviews, and taking photos.

Anticipated Salary Range
Starting in the mid $40,000s, commensurate with education and experience.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
The ability to commute to campus and throughout the College of Music's local community is required.
May require in and/or out-of-state business travel. While the majority of duties will be performed during regular business hours, this position's schedule will deviate from a standard Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm, due to photography, recording, and other marketing activities.
