Overview
This Graphic Designer reports to the Creative Director and supports the visual identity for the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). The role collaborates with the DAR Communications team to produce compelling design solutions across print, digital, and environmental media.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality graphic design for DAR units, including websites, social media, publications, and promotional items.
- Develop and execute design strategy for publications, websites, and social media.
- Manage visual identity of projects and ensure alignment with university brand guidelines.
- Lead and contribute to creative development of assigned projects, including kickoff meetings, brainstorming sessions, creative briefs, and formal presentations.
- Exercise independence in design execution and demonstrate ownership of projects.
- Follow DARCOMM workflow processes and leverage the project management system to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain awareness of project timelines and collaborate proactively with the Communications Coordinator.
- Communicate deadlines and keep partners informed about project status.
- Present high‑profile design projects to DARCOMM and ART.
- Lead production for print projects, including vendor selection, spec sheets, estimations, proofing, and press checks.
- Coordinate with external vendors, printers, and packaging manufacturers to ensure quality and consistency.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate regularly with DARCOMM colleagues on division‑wide and special projects.
- Hire, manage, and coach a design student assistant.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in graphic design, preferably in an agency or related environment.
- Strong and diverse portfolio showcasing proficiency in branding, print, digital, typography, and text hierarchy.
- Experience working within brand guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Experience with print vendors and production processes.
- Experience building motion graphics in After Effects a plus.
- Experience with video editing in Premiere Pro a plus.
- Knowledge of CSS, JavaScript, or other web programming a plus.
- Some photography experience is a plus.
