Description

WWCC seeks a learner‑centered, proactive, and innovative librarian to provide general and specialized instruction and reference services. The role includes course‑related information literacy instruction in face‑to‑face and virtual environments, in‑person and virtual reference service, development of print and web‑based research and instructional materials, faculty consultation, and collection development efforts. The librarian will lead digital collections and services, support emerging technologies, promote equitable access, and collaborate with the Open Educational Resources coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Information Literacy:
    • Plan, teach, and assess instruction for credit-bearing courses and individual sessions.
    • Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to integrate instructional programming.
    • Employ inclusive, accessible learning strategies (Canvas, LibGuides, etc.).
    • Measure and enhance instructional outcomes and student success.
  • Reference Services:
    • Provide research consultation to students, faculty, and staff.
    • Offer e‑reference via email and online chat.
    • Develop instructional materials and tutorials.
  • Discovery & Systems:
    • Co‑lead Library Discovery and Systems – evaluate and improve online resource discovery.
    • Support library website and virtual presence.
    • Generate usage statistics and reports.
    • Assist with cataloging and technology integration.
  • Collection Development:
    • Recommend print and electronic resources; maintain collection currency.
    • Address collection gaps for under‑represented populations.
    • Use evaluation tools for resource selection.
  • Professional Service:
    • Participate in college governance, committees, and faculty functions.
    • Support library outreach and student engagement activities.
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in activities that advance tenure goals.
    • Mentorship, training, and reverse mentoring encouraged.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Attend departmental meetings and committees.
    • Provide recommendations for technology and instructional supplies.
    • Support library operations, including circulation desk functions.
    • Promote library mission, vision, and values.

Required Qualifications

  • MLIS or equivalent from an ALA‑accredited program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year faculty‑level experience at an academic library.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered teaching and service.
  • Experience in information literacy instruction, reference, and research support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a community college academic library.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish.

Compensation & Benefits

The initial placement is a 196‑day contract with salary ranging from $81,330 to $92,718, depending on qualifications. Additional compensation may apply for a doctorate. Benefits include medical, dental, life, long‑term disability insurance; paid sick leave; retirement and deferred compensation programs; and other faculty benefits.

Employment Terms

This is a full‑time tenure‑track position exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Candidates must provide lawful work authorization within three days of employment and undergo a criminal history background check. The college is a tobacco-free campus.
