Senior Transmission Line Designer 1 - Grid

Overview
This position allows for a hybrid / flexible work schedule with a mix of work spent on site at the Sargent & Lundy office.
Responsibilities
Work in a project team environment with engineers and other Electrical and Structural designers and/or engineers in the development of transmission/distribution line drawings/designs.
Apply computer-aided drafting/design skills, with hands-on training in 3D design software environments, such as AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation.
Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, transmission/distribution line hardware details, material lists, and grounding details.
Create master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. Confer directly with engineering staff in interpreting input from sources such as engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations, and stress factors.
Accompany and assist other project team members on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for the design project.
Interface with vendors and construction contractors, explaining drawings to facilitate appropriate design adjustments.
Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Essential skills and experience:
An Associate’s Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
10 or more years of experience in design/drafting of Transmission Lines.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.
Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
Ability to multi-task from project to project.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Attention to detail.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS software.

Compensation $74,750.00 - $115,120.00
