This Director, External Communications develops and manages Exelon’s corporate external relations program, including media outreach, social media, policy advocacy, strategic partnerships and related duties. The role builds relationships with internal stakeholders and external organizations, serves as primary spokesperson to the news media, and coaches employees in external communications. Primary Duties

Develop and manage proactive communications and media outreach efforts to communicate company goals to external stakeholders (40%) Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute campaigns and initiatives aligned with company goals (30%) Develop and manage integrated and innovative social media campaigns focused on customers and external stakeholders (10%) Budget supervision and development (10%) Direct a staff of six, including hiring, talent development, performance management and recognition (10%) Job Scope

Develop and implement external communications strategy with senior executives and directors across business units Collaborate with marketing and employee communications to integrate communications tactics across departments Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to develop full-service communications programs in support of company goals Measure effectiveness of communications programs, providing oversight and ensuring execution of programs Provide thought leadership and oversee a staff of six, including four senior managers and two specialists Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field At least 12 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic and technical organization 5 years in a leadership role Strategic thinker with exceptional team leadership and ability to influence public opinion Project management expertise, meeting deadlines and delivering projects on time and within budget Track record of working effectively under pressure and handling a heavy workload Strong communication skills, synthesizing and communicating complex issues to stakeholders Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence through credibility and clear message delivery In lieu of degree, 15-20 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications
