Base pay range $19.72/hr - $26.13/hr
Position summary The marketing and retail specialist fills multiple roles for the UR SpiderShop. This position is responsible for planning, developing and managing engaging content that aligns with the University\'s brand standards and enhances the visibility and reputation of the SpiderShop. In addition, this position is an active member of the store staff, working the sales floor, operating the POS system, and other retail operational aspects.
Working conditions Designated non-essential personnel. Work is typically conducted in an indoor environment; sitting and working at a computer for moderate periods of time; standing, stooping, lifting, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds. Includes some evening and weekend hours.
Job duties / responsibilities
Develop and execute content strategies across all leading social media platforms, the store website, email, in-store displays and print platforms, that supports the SpiderShop's marketing goals, product promotions and seasonal campaigns.
Photographs merchandise and edits for posting.
Produce and maintain marketing videos, working with student employees and vendors when needed.
Design and test promotional materials, including newsletters, flyers, advertisements and signage.
Collaborate with other university departments to create campus-wide retail messaging around campus events and partnerships.
Collaborates with General Merchandise Manager and Assistant Director to develop and implement the store's sustainability efforts. Partners with the Office of Sustainability to identify sustainability goals.
Maintains UR SpiderShop website. Writes, edits, supplies content; works with store team members, as needed.
Tracks metrics and monitors relevant conversations.
Coordinates the logistics and marketing of book-signing events in-store and on-campus.
Collaborates with Campus Business Services team members for marketing initiatives and promotions for the whole department.
Participates in and aids in planning for all major campus events (commencement, sporting events, family weekend, etc.).
Operates and manages the SpiderShop student advisory board and student brand ambassador programs.
Participates as a member of the bookstore team, assists customers and staff, operates the point of sale system, ensures all areas of the store are neat and clean, and staffs store operations and events, as needed.
Assists with website orders; fulfills and tracks orders.
Manager on duty, as assigned.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to develop strong business relationships with colleagues, business partners and co-workers.
Ability to gather analytical data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Strong creative and editorial writing skills.
High level of creativity, flexibility, and an eye for detail.
Skilled in organizing and establishing priorities.
Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
Ability to interact and communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse campus community, exercising tact and diplomacy in written and verbal communications.
Working knowledge of retail operations environment.
Skilled in the use of computers. Knowledge of software programs, including various social media platforms. Ability to learn new software.
Must possess a current Virginia driver\'s license with a driving record in good standing.
Education & Experience
Bachelor\'s degree in marketing or business required.
Three years\' business experience with social media required.
Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Work schedule
Full-Time; Non-Exempt position
Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, however, some evenings and weekends may be required to accommodate events and games on campus.
Salary structure Pay Grade 5 ($19.72 to $26.13 hourly)
