Specifications Writer
who thrives in fast-paced, technical environments and is ready to make a tangible impact on the transit and passenger rail industry. In this mid‑level role, you’ll be at the heart of transportation systems, including elevators, escalators, and infrastructure, that keep people moving safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in shaping the documentation that drives modernization, maintenance, and compliance across a complex transit network. This posting is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need. Responsibilities
Draft and edit technical specification documents that clearly outline materials, standards, and workmanship for a construction project. Provide updates to existing elevator and escalator specifications as well as develop specifications to be used for future elevator and escalator replacements and modernization as required. Work with project teams, including architects and project managers, to discuss requirements, review documents, and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle. Create work plans for elevator and escalator modernization. Assist in the development of predictive maintenance plans using historical and real‑time data. Document lessons learned and integrate feedback from stakeholders into future specifications. Provide draft copies of all documents to relevant stakeholders prior to finalization. Respond to all comments regarding draft documents and attend all required meetings. Attributes

Natural curiosity, problem‑solving abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience in technical writing in the heavy civil or transportation construction industry. Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and building codes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or Communications. Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). Strong command of ASME A17.1, A17.2, A17.3 and NFPA specification standards. Strong understanding of vertical transportation systems (elevators and escalators). Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $70k‑$95k/year ($33‑$45/hour). The final salary offered will be based on multiple factors and thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, geographic location, etc. Benefits
