Overview Web Developer St. John's University offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in its six colleges and schools, with a growing number of programs offered online. The Office of Marketing and Communications seeks a Full Stack Web Developer to join the team in a hybrid capacity based in New York City, with the ability to work in the office three days a week. As a senior team member, you will design, build, and maintain complex, scalable, and user-centric web solutions. Department: Office of Marketing and Communications Specific Job Title: Full Stack Web Developer Reports to: Director of Digital Communications Campus: Queens, NY Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure back-end systems using modern frameworks and technologies. Develop user-friendly and responsive front-end interfaces, ensuring seamless user experiences across devices. Optimize applications for speed, performance, and scalability on both the client and server sides. Implement and manage APIs, web services, and third-party integrations. Work closely with account directors, UX designers, and campus partners to define project requirements and timelines. Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and share knowledge. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner. Stay informed about emerging web technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance systems and processes. Ensure compliance with web accessibility (WCAG), security standards, and SEO best practices. Qualifications 10+ years of professional experience in web development with expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies. Proficient in Drupal 10 (including Symfony), JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and Twig templating. Familiarity with Drush and hosting platform (Acquia). Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset; able to integrate front-end components with back-end logic. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools and knowledge of accessibility standards and testing tools. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and requires the use of standard office equipment including a computer, printer, cellphone, and camera. Physical Demands The employee must be able to attend events on and off campus and interact with attendees for on- and off-camera interviews, including nights and weekends. Environmental Conditions & Schedule The primary work environment is a typical office setting within the Office of Marketing & Communications. This is a hybrid role requiring 3-4 days on campus and 1-2 days remote. The standard work schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm, and Friday 8:30am-3pm, with some variability based on the university calendar and Marketing deliverables. Travel Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NY campus. Compensation & Benefits Salary range (per NYC Pay Transparency Act): $92,600 to $108,200 annually.
