Position Summary
The OPS Instructional Materials Staff Assistant will support the review and recommendation of instructional materials in accordance with FDOE procedures. The role involves close collaboration with other DPS bureaus, internal FDOE programs, and external stakeholders to oversee the instructional materials adoption process. This position is grant funded and will lead efforts to improve processes, promote best practices, and support the statewide adoption and alignment of K-12 instructional materials with state academic standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical support to the public, school districts, and instructional materials publishers, specifically related to adoption cycles, navigation of the Florida Instructional Materials (FLIM) portal, and compliance with required reporting procedures.
- Provides support to FDOE staff by editing documents, ensuring accessibility compliance, and coordinating the review and approval process. Document types include standard adoption materials such as Publisher Timelines, Checklists, and Specifications, as well as formal memorandums.
- Supports FDOE full-time staff in developing reports, conducting data analyses, and creating evaluation tools to inform BSIS and FDOE leadership. This role requires demonstrated knowledge of grant processes and the ability to provide technical and strategic support for grant-related activities.
- Supports full‑time staff within the Office of Instructional Materials and Library Media (OIMLM) by coordinating meetings with publishers, school districts, and other external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and resource planning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree and/or 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree and 5 years of related experience.
