The EA Digital Platform group is the core powering the global EA ecosystem. As the gaming industry shifts toward a live‑service‑driven model, creating an engaging Ads experience and connecting relevant brands and advertisers to players is the key to EA's success. The AdTech team within EADP’s Dynamic Experience group is on a journey to build industry‑leading solutions that empower end‑to‑end Ads lifecycle management workflows and performant, scalable and available services.
As a Senior Software Engineer III, you will be a key leader in scaling our video ad formats across all of EA's HD games. You will report to AdTech’s Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build a high‑performance Video Ads SDK for HD gaming platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC.
- Champion the SDK’s integration with leading game engines such as Frostbite, Unreal, and Unity.
- Build strong partnerships with EA Game Studios and serve as a technical expert to drive SDK adoption.
- Foster a developer community by ensuring the technology is a seamless part of their game‑development workflow.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience with expert‑level proficiency in C++.
- Expertise in adaptive streaming protocols (HLS, DASH) and knowledge of video codecs (H.264, VP9) for efficient HD video delivery.
- Deep understanding of at least one major game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity, or Frostbite) with proven ability to integrate SDKs while maintaining a high frame rate in AAA games.
- Proven experience with network programming, including HTTP, RESTful APIs, and implementing robust communication protocols between the SDK and ad servers.
- Experience building and maintaining a single SDK that works seamlessly across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
Bonus
- Solid grasp of 3D graphics concepts, including rendering pipelines, shaders, textures, and materials.
- Familiarity with a game engine’s rendering pipeline, asset management, and scripting systems.
Compensation & Benefits
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on relevant business and candidate factors (e.g., education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
Pay Ranges
- British Columbia (e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria): $119,600 – $167,300 CAD
- California (e.g., Los Angeles vs. San Francisco): $138,400 – $211,700 USD
In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and a 401(k). Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks maternity, 4 weeks parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan for full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
