Position

City Reporter – The Oklahoman (oklahoman.com), part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking applicants for a city reporter. The reporter covers more than city hall, pursuing narrative opportunities that illuminate quality of life in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, the challenges faced, and how policies at city, state, and federal levels affect residents. The role also highlights uplifting stories of people making a difference and the bright spots that enrich the area. The city reporter is a watchdog, maintains a log of open records requests, follows up on them, and informs readers about the impact of tax dollars, who benefits, and who does not. The ideal candidate can develop a beat, understands the importance of shooting video and photos on the spot, and has a deft storytelling touch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or English or relevant experience.
  • Advanced computer and multimedia skills is a plus.
  • Must have reliable automobile and smartphone.
  • The position requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
