City Reporter / The Oklahoman, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking applicants for a city reporter. Our city reporter does more than cover city hall, they are endlessly curious about the city they live in and the different communities that make it up. The reporter looks for great storytelling opportunities that illuminate the quality of life for all people living in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, the challenges they face, and how they're being impacted by policies being promulgated at the city, state, and federal levels. They also look for uplifting stories of people who are making a difference and the bright spots that make this area a joy to live in. At the same time, the city reporter is a relentless watchdog, keeps a log of open records requests and follows up on them, and informs readers about the good, bad and the ugly of how tax dollars are spent, who is benefiting and who is not. The ideal candidate knows how to develop a beat, understands the importance of shooting video and photos on the spot, and has a deft storytelling touch.
