The Role Are you ready to launch your career in design?

Ellis & Watts is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented CAD Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build a strong foundation in technical drafting and design within a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Under the guidance of a Lead Designer and a team of Engineers, the CAD Designer will contribute to the creation and modification of technical drawings and 3D models using industry‑standard CAD software. This role plays a key part in supporting design documentation across a variety of projects and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

This position is on‑site at our Batavia, OH facility.

What You’ll Do As a CAD Designer you’ll support our design and documentation efforts by:

Creating 2D drawings and 3D models from engineering sketches and specifications

Updating existing CAD files with design changes and redlines

Assisting with technical documentation like BOMs and part lists

Ensuring all drawings meet company and industry standards

Organizing CAD files and maintaining version control

Collaborating with engineers, project/design engineers, and fellow designers

Performing quality checks for accuracy and clarity

Participating in training and mentorship to build your technical skills

Supporting drawing package preparation and distribution

Pitching in on other tasks to help meet project goals

What We’re Looking For

An associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)

Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD

An understanding of engineering drawings and drafting principles

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Clear communication skills and a team‑first attitude

The ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines

A willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment
