Pay Range: $1,440 - $1,550 per credit hour

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: Spring 2026 – Class meets on Tuesdays/Thursdays 12:30pm-1:50pm. Office hours required.

Job Description

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach ADV 425.2 Advertising Campaigns concentrating on the National Student Advertising Competition for the American Advertising Association, on Tuesdays/Thursdays 12:30pm-1:50pm during the Spring 2026 semester (3 credits).

Course Description: Function as a full-service advertising agency, encompassing all the disciplines studied during the student’s tenure at Newhouse. Students will prepare the 2026 Campaign for the AAF National Student Advertising Competition District Two. They will execute a complete campaign, from research to strategy to creative executions and a media plan.

Qualifications

  • Experience organizing and executing an AAF NSAC pitch in the past is strongly preferred.
  • Practical experience pitching new business for an advertising agency is extremely helpful, especially from the role of account management.

Responsibilities

It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:

  • Developing a syllabus.
  • Ordering books and materials for students in the class on or before the first day of classes.
  • Preparing for classes.
  • Holding office hours each week to meet with students.
  • Grading student assignments and examinations in a timely manner; turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to instruct the class on the designated days and times.
  • Ability to hold office hours on campus.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools / Equipment

  • Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
