Part-Time Faculty: JNL 211 Cross-Media News Writing (Spring 2026)

Location: Campus

Pay Range: $1,440 - $1,550 per credit hour. Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Hours: Spring 2026 semester. Class meets Monday/Wednesday 5:15pm-6:35pm. Office hours required.

Responsibilities

• Developing a syllabus.
• Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
• Preparing for classes.
• Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
• Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades.

• The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is seeking an instructor to teach JNL 211 Cross-Media News Writing on Monday/Wednesday 5:15pm-6:35pm during the Spring 2026 semester (3 credits).

Qualifications

Job Specific Qualifications

• Strong journalism background, familiarity with multiple media platforms, and experience teaching.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
• Ability to hold office hours on campus.
• Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools/Equipment

• Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
