Overview
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Adjunct / Substitute Non-Classroom Instructor POOL (college credit) role at Inside Higher Ed, affiliated with San Diego Community College District. This is an adjunct, part-time pool posting open to qualified applicants on a continuous basis for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters.
Responsibilities
- Handle the daily press operations for the organization, including media relations, social media posts, program webpage management, and program promotion.
- Provide assistance in recruitment and transfer, support game events, record statistics and operations, and liaise with the CCCAA for tasks related to sports information.
- Maintain knowledge related to Health, Exercise Science, and an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Keep in-game live statistics via computer-based code entry for all plays; for basketball this typically involves 800–1,000 keystrokes per game across 13 sports and 150–200 home contests.
- Maintain, design, update, and consult on all webpage tasks (e.g., www.sdcityknights.com).
- Take team photos and individual photos, create profiles and interviews, and manage athlete and team archives/history.
- Create videos for advertising teams and manage social media (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram) related to the sports program and connect work to instructional course information and non-athletics SD City activities.
- Coordinate with local media and neighboring colleges; assist 4-year universities with recruitment and transfer of student athletes; provide campus news and bulletins; ensure compliance with relevant rules and statistical analysis.
- Participate in conference SID group activities and attend athletics-related meetings; may cover multiple games in a single day and travel to away contests as needed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience; OR
- Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience; OR
- The equivalent.
FOREIGN DEGREES: Applicants with degrees from colleges or universities outside the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association, and a copy of the evaluation must be attached during the application process. An original evaluation must be presented at the time of hire.
EQUIVALENCY: If you do not possess the exact degrees listed above or anticipate receiving the required degree prior to teaching, please submit a “Request for Equivalency Form” during the application process.

Salary Information
Salary placement is contingent upon official transcripts and verifications of previous work experience. Instructors with advanced coursework and/or experience are placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt of required documents.
