We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced
Senior Customs Entry Writer
to handle A‑Z customs clearance processes for imported goods. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of tariff classifications, trade compliance across diverse commodities for Consumption, Informal and Carnet Entries. Knowledge of FDA, USDA, EPA and Fish and Wildlife are preferred. Knowledge of Autoparts is required. This position plays a key role in compliance and clearance of
Autoparts/automotive, consumer electronics, textiles, furniture and food products .
Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Job Title Senior Customs Entry Writer
Department Customs Brokerage / Import Operations
Location 2218 E 223rd Carson, CA 90810
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit customs entries for ocean, air, and rail shipments.
Coordinate with clients, terminal agents, government agencies and freight forwarders to resolve holds, exams, manifest discrepancies, and documentation issues. Handle straight through delivery.
Interpret and verify commercial documentation: invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other supporting documents.
Assign correct
HTSUS codes
based on product descriptions and technical specs using CROSS rulings, prior CBP decisions, and classification database tools.
Accurately calculate
duties, taxes, fees , and applicable trade program eligibility (e.g., USMCA, GSP).
Handle
Partner Government Agency (PGA)
requirements, with emphasis on
FDA Prior Notice , EPA declarations, and USDA permits.
Continual learning of import regulations, Partner Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.), and Free Trade Agreements.
Ensure entries are processed within internal and external KPIs and deadlines.
Assist with audits, post-entry amendments, and customs reconciliation as needed.
Qualifications
Experience:
5+ years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writing.
Licensing:
Licensed Customs Broker not required but a plus.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in international trade, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with ABI software (e.g., Descartes NetCHB, Cargowise); Microsoft Office Suite; ACE portal.
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of CBP regulations, HTSUS classification, incoterms, and PGA requirements.
Soft Skills:
Responsible to key customers, excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication, time management skills, and want to grow.
Full‑time position Monday to Friday (Flexible start time allowed)
