This role combines video editing and videography.

Post Production: 70%-85% of the time

Director of Photography/Videography: 15%-30% of the time

We are seeking a highly skilled, visionary Video Editor to lead the visual storytelling and technical execution of our video productions.

Another important aspect of this role is as a Director of Photography/Camera person. This includes being responsible for crafting the look, lighting, and camera work of each project, from concept through post-production.

The ideal candidate is both creatively driven and technically proficient, with a passion for translating ideas into compelling visual narratives.

This role should be able to adapt and customize Adobe graphics, such as from After Effects, in collaboration with our other animators.

We are a creative agency in the heart of Boulder, CO, working extensively with medical device and technology clients. We pride ourselves on taking complex ideas and making them simple and easy to understand. This often involves research and a steep learning curve, but we enjoy immersing ourselves in new technologies to create thoughtful and informative content.

Responsibilities

Visual Collaboration:

Define and execute the visual style for each production in collaboration with the creative director, producer, account manager, animator, art director, writer, and video team members.

Camera & Lighting Direction:

Plan and oversee all aspects of cinematography, including camera placement, movement, lens selection, and lighting setup

Pre-production Planning:

Collaborate with the producer to participate in script breakdowns, storyboarding, shot lists, location scouting, and technical planning.

On-Set Supervision:

Lead the camera and lighting during shoots, ensuring consistency with the visual vision and efficient production.

Editing:

Strong ability to edit footage using Adobe Premiere. Editing is primarily of story-based marketing videos (corporate, narrative, product, testimonial, etc.). Handle all aspects of post-production, including final color correction, recording voice-overs, and mixing final audio.

Graphics:

Ability to update templates and graphics in After Effects.

Equipment Oversight:

Maintain and manage camera, lens, lighting, and grip equipment; recommend upgrades and rentals as required.

It is important to note, we are looking for a ’short-form’ editor with a background in marketing, not someone who is specialized solely in motion graphics design. While 2D and 3D motion design experience is a bonus, we need an editor who has experience creating short-form narratives that clearly communicate ideas and information in a compelling way.

Must-Haves

Experience working across various formats (marketing videos, social media, commercials, branded content, short form documentaries)

Experience filming live medical procedures, device demos, or medical training content

FAA drone certification or experience with aerial videography

Nice-to-Haves

Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator experience.

Knowledge of 3D animation in Maya, and CAD, or other 3D design software.

Expert-level sound recording and editing experience.

Web-savvy, not a developer, but able to speak or work in new media/digital formats.
