Muskegon Community College, an associate degree‑granting institution of higher education, is a center for lifelong learning that offers programs responding to individual, community, and global needs. We are seeking qualified candidates for Adjunct Instructors.

Applicants should consider applying to the Adjunct Instructor Pools, which remain open for future part‑time instructional opportunities. Applicants meeting qualifications may be added to their department’s pool for future review. No immediate openings are being advertised.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline.
  • Prefer teaching experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures; experience with instructional technology preferred.
  • Committed to student recruitment, retention, and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum, and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non‑traditional methodology.
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to access and use electronic resources including email, the Internet, and the college’s integrated database record‑keeping system.

Essential Functions

  • Teach assigned courses, which may include day, night, and online courses, as well as main campus and extension center venues. Classes are to meet on time for the full allotted period.
  • Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
  • Grade assignments in a meaningful way, return graded assignments promptly, and assign final grades for all students, meeting or beating institutional deadlines.
  • Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled office hours or by appointment.
  • Encourage student opinion survey completion for each class, review summary information, and use data to increase student success.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training or hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Normal office environment with occasional discomfort due to heat, dust, noise. Ability to travel to all campus locations required.
