Key Account Manager - Packaging Films & Materials
Metric Geo, Los Angeles, California, United States, 90079
Business Development Lead | Metric Geo | Packaging & Processing
About the Client:
Metric is partnered with a leader in packaging materials and engineered consumable solutions for the food industry. Their packaging materials support a wide variety of applications, from thermoforming and vacuum lidding to food-safe tray solutions. Their materials serve processors of meats, dairy, cheese, poultry, and more. With a performance-first mindset, the company focuses on delivering quality packaging materials tailored to fit automated systems already in place across small and mid-sized production environments.
About the Role:
The Key Account Manager position is ideal for candidates with experience in packaging consumables and a consultative sales approach. Rather than working within an OEM framework, this role emphasizes selling engineered materials solutions through a distribution model and working with smaller food processors to deliver value through packaging films, trays, and lidding materials. You’ll be responsible for identifying new opportunities, growing accounts, and strategically targeting machinery users that would benefit from proprietary materials solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement growth strategies across an established territory by engaging small to mid-tier food producers and processors.
Manage and expand relationships with existing customers while proactively identifying prospects already operating compatible packaging machinery.
Deliver value-based sales presentations focused on engineered film, lidding, and tray solutions tailored to protein, dairy, and perishable food packaging.
Collaborate cross-functionally with technical and applications teams to ensure materials align with operational needs and compliance standards.
Committed to regular travel to maintain strong visibility in the field and drive market penetration.
Qualifications
Proven track record in outside sales, particularly within consumable packaging materials (thermoforming films, lidding films, trays).
Industry experience within proteins, dairy, cheese, or related sectors is highly preferred.
Ability to navigate distribution-style sales environments, bringing a proactive and engineered solution mindset rather than a commodity approach.
Motivated, entrepreneurial, and passionate about driving growth within underserved or declining territories.
Experience selling private-label or branded materials, preferably from companies specializing in flexible films, printed consumables, or labeling components.
