Job Title:Communications Student AssistantDepartment:OHTECH | Communications-JM The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) seeks a talented and motivated student to help the communications team support the Open OnDemand high performance computing portal.
Open OnDemand , developed by the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and funded by the National Science Foundation, helps thousands of research computing centers around the world connect researchers and students to their resources. The Communications Student Assistant’s responsibilities will include: Help manage content on the Open OnDemand website, https://openondemand.org. Assist with developing social media content for LinkedIn and X. Support communications and event planning for year-round meetings and events, such as the Global Open OnDemand (GOOD) conference. Assist with photography, video projects, and case studies that tell the Open OnDemand story. Perform administrative tasks, such as database, file, and inventory management.
This position offers employment throughout the year, including academic breaks, at 10 hours per week. The role is currently hybrid, with on-site requirements at the consortium’s location at 1224 Kinnear Road. Work hours are flexible during weekday business hours. Required Education/Experience Experience and education in the communications field. Demonstrated writing and editing ability. Familiarity with social media, especially LinkedIn and X. Ability to research topics and synthesize information. An interest in learning about research computing and its applications. Basic digital photography, video shooting and editing skills. Experience with using a content management system to update content on websites. Excellent organization, time management, and customer service skills. Ability to work remotely and independently, as well as in a traditional office environment.
Desired Education/Experience
Experience with managing organizational social media accounts. Experience assisting with special events or meetings. Experience with shooting or editing video. Experience with graphic design. Additional Information:
About the Ohio Technology Consortium Located on the West Campus of The Ohio State University, the Ohio Technology Consortium is a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education that consists of three statewide technology infrastructure organizations: OARnet, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), and the Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK). The OH-TECH communications team supports the outreach, marketing, and communications needs of these three units and the organization as a whole. The team includes a communications manager, creative manager, two content creators, and a web developer. The Communications Student Assistant will be expected to interact professionally with members of this team and as well as the OSC staff who manage the Open OnDemand program. The Hiring Rate for this position is $14 hourly. Location:Kinnear Rd, 1224 (0374)Position Type:Temporary (Fixed Term)Scheduled Hours:10 Shift: First Shift
