Mechanical Design Technician (Drafter)

Job Overview:

As a Mechanical Design Technician, you’ll collaborate with engineers and machinists to create and revise detailed mechanical drawings using

SolidWorks

or

AutoCAD . You’ll support the design‑to‑production process, ensuring components are accurately represented and manufacturable. This role is ideal for someone eager to expand their knowledge of

CNC machining ,

precision tooling , and

mechanical drafting .

Responsibilities

Develop and update 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, assemblies, and layouts using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Translate engineering concepts into production‑ready designs in collaboration with engineering and machining teams.

Maintain drawing documentation, revision history, and technical specifications.

Apply dimensioning, tolerancing, and material standards to all designs.

Support CNC programming and machining operations by learning design‑for‑manufacturability principles.

Required Qualifications

Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD for mechanical drafting and design.

Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Skills

Interest or experience in CNC machining, tooling, or precision manufacturing.

Familiarity with mechanical tolerances, GD&T, and production documentation.

Ability to work in a collaborative, hands‑on production environment.
