Associate Director of Donor Communications
Oversee, manage, and participate in the development of highly customized communications materials to cultivate, solicit, and steward ultra‑high‑net‑worth global citizens and corporate donors and prospects to strengthen TNC’s philanthropic pipeline and fund our 2030 goals. Partner with the Director of Donor Communications to cultivate relationships with dynamic, entrepreneurial, globally dispersed fundraising teams and develop donor communications strategies and materials for emerging markets. Work remotely, supporting colleagues in the U.S., London, São Paulo, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and manage collaboration with regional donor communications teams. Directly supervise staff.
Support the director regarding strategy, project management, organizational training, and outreach to expand TNC’s donor base to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals. Ensure a collaborative and well‑integrated donor communications effort within the Global Development division and across the organization, including regional business units, marketing, and internal communications. Lead the development and dissemination of key organizational messages, and provide donor communications advice, guidance, and training to a wide range of colleagues.
As a member of the Donor Relations Department, act as an integral part of a cross‑functional, highly motivated group of communications, stewardship, content, and engagement experts. Foster collaboration by cultivating constructive and effective relationships with a wide range of people, including Donor Relations leadership, senior Development staff, and closely aligned teams in Marketing, Strategic Communications, Conservation, Legal, and Finance. Support Executive Team fundraising by maintaining close relationships with, and offering guidance to, global conservation leadership and other Executive Team members as they engage with the organization’s top donors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience.
Experience in planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities.
Experience managing and supervising a multidisciplinary team.
Experience developing, managing, and implementing multiple projects and strategic goals.
Experience working across complex organizations.
Experience working with cross‑functional teams across multiple organizational levels.
Experience, coursework, or other training in principles, practices, and procedures of donor communications.
Desired Qualifications
Multilingual skills and multi‑cultural or cross‑cultural experience appreciated.
Effective training skills.
Effective communication via presentations, conversations, and documents.
Experience managing a geographically dispersed team.
Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in donor communications.
Proficiency in synthesizing materials from multiple sources into a coherent and accurate summary.
Proficiency in working independently as well as jointly with colleagues on a team.
Understanding of best practices in non‑profit management.
Salary Information This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity, taking into consideration legal restrictions such as non‑national ratios and immigration processing times. For U.S.‑based applicants only, the starting pay range is generally within $110,200‑$160,650 for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. For all other applicants, pay ranges will be in local currency and are based on the local labor market, not tied to the U.S. range. Your geographic location will be confirmed during recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally, for all applicants, actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
