Job Summary
The Adkins Association Inc. is a results‑driven firm and is seeking a talented, motivated, and technically skilled individual to join our team. The firm is currently seeking an Architect / Architectural Designer to perform roof evaluations, air barrier review, weather barrier review, develop technical documentation, and oversee exterior envelope and roofing‑related construction for educational, government, and commercial facilities.
Responsibilities
Perform roof evaluations, air barrier review, weather barrier review.
Develop technical documentation.
Oversee exterior envelope and roofing‑related construction.
Investigate, analyze, and document building envelope systems.
Produce Revit and AutoCAD construction drawings and documents.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams during design and construction.
Conduct field investigations, access roofs safely, and perform observations in varying conditions.
Qualifications The Architect / Architectural Designer will have the ability to investigate, analyze, and document building envelope systems, as well as prepare and manage construction documents. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of roofing, air barrier & weather barrier assemblies, the ability to produce Revit and AutoCAD construction drawings, and experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams during design and construction.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) years of experience in building envelope design, investigation, and construction observation.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, capable of producing detailed construction drawings and documents.
Strong technical understanding of low‑slope and steep‑slope roofing systems, materials, and detailing.
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (IBC, NRCA, ASTM, FM Global, UL, ABAA, BESI).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report preparation.
Ability to conduct field investigations, access roofs safely, and perform observations in varying conditions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
IIBEC certifications a plus.
