Position Information This is a

Department Promotional Examination

and is open to eligible employees of the

Department of Human Services

who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and received an overall rating of standard or better on the last employee performance report.

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

Written Exam: will be conducted on December 5, 2025.

Oral Exam: Qualified candidates will be notified five (5) days prior to the examination date.

Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled dates/times/locations without exception.

Performance Exam (Weight 30%): The performance test is a job‑related exercise which may include a work problem, consisting of analysis and writing.

Oral Exam (Weight 70%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.

If the number of applicants successful on the performance exam is insufficient to merit an oral exam, the performance exam shall be weighted 100%. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards Two years of experience as a Supervisor in a California Social Services Agency of which one AND one‑half (1.5) years must have consisted of supervising Eligibility or Social Services Program staff; OR five (5) years social/eligibility work experience in a public, non‑profit, or private social service agency of which two (2) years must have been comparable to a Social Service or Eligibility Supervisor. A college degree can substitute for six (6) months of the experience requirement, not including the one and one‑half (1.5) years as an Eligibility or Social Services Supervisor.

Additional Requirements

Some assignments in this classification may require a minimum of one (1) year of qualifying supervisory experience to include Employment Services, CalWORKS, CalFresh and/or MediCal.

Possession of a valid California Class C drivers license is required upon appointment.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post‑offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

Appointees are subject to fingerprinting for the purpose of a criminal records check as authorized by section 16501 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code and section 11105.3 of the California Penal Code.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve‑months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. Candidates are encouraged to indicate acceptable geographical locations in which they would accept employment on their application form. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to these locations (areas/district offices).
