Job Description As a Civil Designer, you will perform detailed calculations, quantity take‑offs, and other design details on commercial, residential, and educational projects for independent clients and architects. Primarily, you will be involved in K-12 projects, which comprise 80% of the work, though you will also engage in private sector projects, mainly commercial. You will work within the AutoCAD platform to produce construction documents and use Civil 3D for design tasks. While primarily office‑based, occasional site visits for planning meetings and drawing reviews may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed calculations and quantity take‑offs.

Prepare design details for commercial, residential, and educational projects.

Work predominantly on K-12 projects, with some commercial sector involvement.

Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce construction documents.

Conduct site visits for planning meetings and drawing reviews as needed.

Act as a mid‑level professional between junior production staff and project managers.

Handle projects independently with minimal oversight.

Delegate tasks to junior staff effectively.

Essential Skills

4+ years of experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D design.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

Experience in grading, surfacing, and sanitary/sewer design projects.

Site/Land Development project experience.

Strong Civil 3D design skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with K-12 projects is a bonus.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is advantageous.

Work Environment The role offers a flexible work environment with core hours from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The position is primarily office‑based, with the possibility of a hybrid setup allowing for two remote days per week, requiring three days in the office. Average working hours are between 45‑50 hours per week, but over 40 hours is not mandatory. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester Hills, MI.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 – $42.00/hr.
