High school graduate or equivalent
Previous experience in a telecommunications or customer service role
Proficiency in operating phone systems and/or computer-based switchboards
Strong verbal communication skills
Ability to handle high stress situations
English is a must
Preferred
Knowledge of hospital operations and medical terminology is a plus
English is a must, other languages are a plus
Scheduling Requirements
Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required
Essential Functions
Relays incoming and outgoing calls promptly and courteously
Handles callers professionally and helpfully
Monitors operations of telephone and paging systems
Ensures that telephone equipment is in good working order and that problems are reported to the proper department
Monitors emergency alarms and medical alarms located in the office
Communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients
Operates the hospital's telecommunication systems, including:
Multi-line phone systems
Computer-based switchboards
In-house paging system
Announces and beeps medical codes, disasters, and other emergencies in accordance with hospital and system policies
Maintain accurate records of emergency calls
Demonstrates a thorough awareness of and familiarity with information resources in the department
Works closely with other hospital staff to ensure seamless communication and patient satisfaction
