Job Title: Senior Radio Frequency Engineer Location: 100% Onsite Washington, DC Pay Rate: Up to $50.48/hr Referral Fee: $7/hr

Overview We are seeking a Senior Radio Frequency Engineer to support a federal agency's nationwide radio communications mission. This role involves managing licensed radio frequencies, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and supporting technical transitions such as Narrowbanding and P25 interoperability. The engineer will serve as a liaison between radio users, program leadership, and federal regulators.

Responsibilities

Advise program offices on the application and maintenance of radio frequencies to meet mission needs.

Develop and process radio frequency and call sign requests for submission to federal regulators.

Research and analyze radio-related issues, prepare recommendations, and submit requirements for approval.

Conduct spectrum research to ensure new frequency requests meet policy guidelines and avoid interference.

Monitor and maintain frequency assignment databases to ensure accuracy and currency.

Support transitions to NTIA Narrowbanding requirements (e.g., VHF 162‑174 MHz).

Assist with compliance to P25 standards for radio equipment.

Operate and apply Spectrum XXI software for spectrum management.

Provide support for High Frequency (HF) radio equipment.

Required Skills & Experience

8‑10 years of experience in radio frequency management or spectrum operations.

Experience supporting narrowbanding, VHF/UHF radio programs, or P25 transitions.

Proficiency with Spectrum XXI or similar spectrum‑planning tools.

Experience with RF licensing, interference research, asset tracking, and compliance.

Familiarity with administrative tools like ServiceNow and Excel for tracking and reporting.

Strong documentation and analytical skills.

Ability to serve as a technical backup and advisor to a lead RF manager.

Education

Minimum: High School Diploma

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Clearance Requirements

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance (non‑transferable; onboarding contingent on clearance approval, typically 8‑10 weeks).
