Job Overview The Manager Solutions Design supports growth of our Supply Chain Solutions offering by developing, designing, and winning new business. Responsibilities include understanding customer business, designing solutions that deliver financial value, providing feasible designs aligned with customer needs, shaping win plans, supporting awarded business through the startup process, and contributing to proposals that influence customer decisions.

Key Activities

Manage a subset of project team members or act as an independent contributor, specializing in select design discipline or industry solutions.

Mentor and advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques.

Act as a specific solution design specialist, usually in more than one discipline.

Effectively communicate design and solution to internal stakeholders and client.

Use advanced analytical techniques to understand the business.

Essential Functions

Project Management – lead cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of solution development with win strategy.

Maintain effective communication across all team members as solution develops.

Meet frequently with customers and cross‑functional bid response team; support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.

Calculate labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements based on transportation and warehousing design assumptions.

Develop guidance for cost and pricing models and relevant assumptions.

Develop proposal – clearly articulate value propositions, Ryder’s differentiated value, and proposed solution.

Collaborate with Sales leader to develop win strategy.

Data validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development and defining scenarios to model.

Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives.

Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.

Utilize a consultative approach to projects that involves understanding customers’ pain‑points, developing and presenting solutions.

Implementation follow‑up – validate and modify deployed process to ensure it matches plan.

Skills and Abilities

Superb data organization and cleansing skills.

Advanced design application skills and concepts for complex transportation and warehousing networks.

Familiarity with simulation tools, transportation & warehouse management systems, ERPs, automation, MHE, visibility tools, and industry‑leading technologies.

Ability to influence project teams using facts, statistics, and analytics.

Comprehend complex supply‑chain and transportation solutions.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Professional relationship‑building skills across all levels.

Microsoft Office Suite skills – Access, Excel, PowerPoint expert.

Proficiency using AutoCAD for facility layout development.

Extensive knowledge of warehouse operations, material‑handling solutions, and automation types.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.

Eight (8) or more years in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry.

Travel 15%–20% (Estimated) – Remote with some travel.

Compensation Salaried – $125,000 – $140,000.
