Job Description
The Manager Solutions Design - Supply Chain is responsible for supporting the growth of Ryder’s Supply Chain Solutions offering by developing, designing, and winning new business.
Demonstrate an understanding of our customer’s business
Design solutions that deliver financial value to our customers
Provide feasible designs aligned with customer needs
Help the pursuit team shape win plans consistent with our solution design
Deliver sustainable designs aligned with Ryder’s operational & technical capabilities
Be a key contributor to proposals influencing the customer’s decision to select Ryder
Support awarded business through the startup process, transitioning design and proposal assumptions to Operations and SCE CI resources via the Customer Due Diligence process
Key Activities
Manage a subset of project team members or act as an independent contributor, specializing in select design disciplines or industry solutions
Mentor and advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques to create, re‑design, or optimize logistics networks
Act as a specific solution design specialist in one or more disciplines
Communicate designs and solutions to internal stakeholders and clients
Use advanced analytical techniques to understand the business
Essential Functions
Project Management – lead cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of solution development with win strategy
Maintain effective communication across all team members as solutions develop
Meet frequently with customers and the bid response team; support technical review presentations and design validation meetings
Calculate labor, equipment, facility, and expense requirements; develop process flows, concepts of operations, and value propositions; coordinate with IT for system concepts
Collaborate with Sales to develop win strategy, research industry and customer pain points, and position Ryder to win
Validate, cleanse, profile data and baseline development; define scenarios to model
Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives
Improve engineering tools and methodologies to uphold industry best practices
Adopt a consultative approach to projects, understanding customer pain points, presenting solutions, and following up on implementation to ensure alignment with plans
Skills and Abilities
Superb data organization and cleansing skills
Advanced skills in design applications, tools, techniques, and methodologies for complex transportation and warehousing networks
Familiarity with simulation tools, transportation & warehouse management systems, ERPs, automation, MHE, visibility tools, and leading technologies
Ability to influence project teams using facts, statistics, and analytics
Deep understanding of supply chain and transportation solutions and ability to break them into manageable design elements
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, translating complex designs into accessible terms
Ability to build professional relationships across all organization levels
Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency; expert level required
Proficiency with AutoCAD for facility layouts
Extensive knowledge of warehouse management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, warehouse layouts, Lean methods, material handling, automation, and related tools (e.g., CAD, slotting, MOST, simulation, WMS, Llamasoft, Tableau)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
Eight (8) or more years in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry (e.g., industrial engineering, warehouse operations, operations)
Travel 15% to 20% (Estimated). This position is remote with some travel.
Compensation Salary: $125,000 – $140,000 annually, plus eligible bonus, commission, or long‑term incentive based on level and type.
