Manager Solutions Design - Supply Chain role at Ryder System, Inc.
Responsibilities
Support growth of Supply Chain Solutions by developing, designing, and winning new business.
Demonstrate understanding of customer business and design solutions that deliver financial value.
Provide feasible designs aligned with customer needs and Ryder’s operational & technical capabilities.
Help pursuit team shaping win plans consistent with solution design.
Act as key contributor to proposals that influence customer decision to select Ryder.
Support awarded business throughout startup process, ensuring transition from design to Operations and SCE CI resources.
Align work with industry verticals or design discipline and lead new business pursuit team and opportunities.
Key Activities Include
Manage subset of project team members or act as independent contributor specializing in select design discipline.
Mentor and advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques.
Communicate design and solution to internal stakeholders and clients.
Use advanced analytical techniques to understand business.
Act as specific solution design specialist across multiple disciplines.
Essential Functions
Project Management – lead cross‑functional teams to align solution development with win strategy.
Maintain effective communication across all team members as solution develops.
Meet frequently with customers and cross‑functional bid response team; support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.
Calculate labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements based on transportation and warehousing design assumptions.
Develop process flows, concept of operations and value propositions consistent with win strategy and work with IT to develop concept of systems.
Coordinate with Pricing and other functions to develop cost and pricing models.
Develop and articulate proposal value propositions and Ryder’s differentiated value.
Collaborate with Sales leader to develop win strategy and stakeholder analysis.
Validate, cleanse, profile data and develop scenarios to model.
Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives.
Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.
Utilize consultative approach to projects involving customer pain‑points and present solutions.
Validate and modify deployed processes to ensure match plan.
Skills And Abilities
Superb data organization and cleansing skills.
Advanced skills and concepts using design applications, tools and methodologies to analyze and design complex transportation and warehousing networks.
Familiarity with simulation tools, transportation & warehouse management systems, ERPs, automation, MHE, visibility tools and industry leading technologies.
Ability to influence the project teams with facts, statistics and analytics.
Comprehend complex‑chain and transportation solutions and segment design processes into manageable elements.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; translate complex designs into understood terms.
Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization.
Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
Proficiency using AutoCAD to develop facility layouts that reflect the proposed solution.
Warehouse Design knowledge: warehouse operations data analytics, industrial engineering, material handling solutions, automation types, packing equipment, conveyor and sortation equipment and other automation solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering.
Eight (8) years or more in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry.
Travel 15% to 20% (estimated). Remote position with some travel.
Compensation Salary: $125,000 - $140,000 per year. Eligible for annual bonus, commission and long‑term incentive plan based on level and type.
