The Manager Solutions Design supports the growth of our Supply Chain Solutions offering by developing, designing, and winning new business through:
Demonstrating an understanding of our Customer’s business
Designing solutions that deliver financial value to our Customers
Providing feasible designs aligned with our Customer’s needs
Helping the pursuit team shape win plans consistent with our solution design
Creating sustainable designs aligned with Ryder’s operational & technical capabilities
Contributing to proposals that influence customers’ decisions to select Ryder
Supporting awarded business throughout the startup process, transitioning design and proposal assumptions to Operations and SCE CI resources via the Customer Due Diligence process
The Manager is aligned by industry verticals or design discipline and helps lead the new business pursuit team and individual opportunities. The Manager may provide direction to various subject matter experts (SMEs) or act as an independent team member to lead the pursuit from start to finish across all stages of the opportunity and through successful transition during startup.
Key Activities
Manage a subset of project team members or act as an independent contributor, specializing in select design discipline (transportation, warehousing, network design) or industry solutions (e.g., packaging, inbound to manufacturing, integrated transportation, temp‑controlled).
Mentor & advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques to create, re‑design, or optimize logistics networks.
Act as a specific solution design specialist, usually covering more than one discipline.
Communicate designs and solutions effectively to internal stakeholders & the client.
Use advanced analytical techniques and concepts to understand the business.
Essential Functions
Project Management – lead cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of solution development with win strategy.
Maintain effective communication across all team members as the solution develops.
Meet frequently with customers and cross‑functional bid response team; support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.
Calculate labor, equipment, facility, and expense requirements based on transportation and warehousing design assumptions. Develop process flows, concept of operations, value propositions, and system concepts; coordinate with Pricing to develop cost and pricing models.
Develop proposals that clearly articulate value propositions, Ryder’s differentiated value, and proposed solutions.
Collaborate with Sales leaders to develop win strategy (research industry and customer pain points, Ryder solutions, competitive landscape, stakeholder analysis).
Validate, clean, profile data; develop baseline and scenarios for modeling.
Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives.
Improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.
Apply consultative approach to projects, understanding customer pain points and presenting solutions.
Follow up on implementation, validating and modifying deployed processes to match plan.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent data organization and cleansing skills.
Advanced using design applications, tools, and methodologies for complex transportation and warehousing networks.
Familiarity with simulation tools, transportation & warehouse management systems, ERPs, automation, MHE, visibility tools, and industry‑leading technologies.
Ability to influence teams using facts, statistics, and analytics.
Comprehend complex supply chain and transportation solutions; segment design processes into manageable elements.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, translating complex designs into accessible terms.
Build and maintain professional relationships at all levels.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
Proficient using AutoCAD to develop facility layouts.
Extensive knowledge of warehouse design, WMS operations, industrial engineering, warehouse types, material handling solutions, and automation (e.g., PIT applications, racking, packaging equipment, conveyor and sortation systems, AS/RS).
Knowledge of CAD, slotting (Slot3D), MOST, simulation software, WMS (e.g., Manhattan Scale), Llamasoft, Tableau.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.
Eight (8) years or more in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry.
Travel 15% – 20% (Estimated). This position is remote with some travel.

Pay Type: Salaried
Minimum Pay Range: $125,000
Maximum Pay Range: $140,000
Potential eligibility for annual bonus, commission, and long‑term incentive plan.
