Job Description The Manager, Solutions Design is responsible for supporting the growth of our Supply Chain Solutions offering by developing, designing, and winning new business through the following activities:

Demonstrating an understanding of our customers' business.

Designing solutions that deliver financial value to customers.

Providing feasible designs that align with customers' needs.

Assisting the pursuit team with shaping win plans consistent with our solution design.

Delivering sustainable designs aligned with Ryder's operational and technical capabilities.

Contributing to proposals that influence the customer’s decision to select Ryder.

Supporting awarded business throughout the startup process, successfully transitioning design and proposal assumptions to Operations and SCE CI resources through the Customer Due Diligence process.

The Manager is organized by either industry verticals or by design discipline and helps lead the new business pursuit team and individual opportunities. The Manager provides direction to subject matter experts (SMEs) or acts as an independent team member to lead the pursuit from start to finish across all opportunity stages.

Key Activities

Manage a subset of project team members or act as an independent contributor specializing in a select design discipline (transportation, warehousing, or network design) or industry solutions.

Mentor and advise SD team members on modeling and design techniques to create, re-design, or optimize logistics networks.

Specialize as a solution design specialist in one or more disciplines.

Communicate design and solution to internal stakeholders and clients.

Apply advanced analytical techniques and concepts to understand business needs.

Essential Functions

Project Management – lead cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of solution development with win strategy.

Maintain effective communication among all team members during solution development.

Meet frequently with customers and the bid response team; support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.

Calculate labor, equipment, facility, and expense requirements; develop process flows, concepts of operations, and value propositions; coordinate with IT and Pricing to develop cost and pricing models.

Develop proposals that clearly articulate value propositions, Ryder’s differentiated offerings, and the proposed solution.

Collaborate with Sales leaders to develop win strategy, research industry and customer pain points, and engage the competitive landscape.

Validate data, cleanse, profile, and develop baseline scenarios for modeling.

Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives.

Improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.

Use a consultative approach to projects, understanding customer pain points and presenting solutions.

Follow up on implementation, validate and modify deployed processes to ensure alignment with planned solutions.

Skills And Abilities

Advanced data organization and cleansing skills.

Expertise in design applications, tools, techniques, and methodologies for complex transportation and warehousing networks.

Familiarity with simulation tools, TMS, WMS, ERPs, automation, MHE, visibility tools, and industry leading technologies.

Ability to influence teams using facts, statistics, and analytics.

Comprehension of complex supply chain and transportation solutions and the ability to decompose them into manageable elements.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including translating complex designs into customer‑friendly language.

Professional relationship building across all organizational levels.

Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Proficiency in AutoCAD for facility layout development.

Extensive knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, and automation solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.

Eight (8) or more years in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry.

Travel 15–20% (Estimated) – Remote position with some travel.

Job Category Solutions Design

Compensation Salary ranges from $125,000 to $140,000. Eligibility for annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plans may apply.
