Production Control Expeditor (Contract Position)
Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly qualified Contract Production Control Expeditor who will be responsible for materials planning, generation, and monitoring of the Production Schedule in order to achieve other items necessary to establish and operate the world’s first commercial manned spacecraft company.
This is a 4‑6 month contract position at our Mesa/Gateway office, working onsite Monday‑Thursday with the option to work remotely from home on Fridays.
Shifts:
1st shift (M‑Th) 6am‑4:30pm
2nd shift (M‑Th) 4pm‑2:30am
Base pay range $32.00/hr - $35.00/hr
Responsibilities
Drive parts to production kits by working with buyers for items on orders and production items in the manufacturing process.
Provide clear communication on project status, schedule risks, and production progress to program teams, leadership, and various departments.
Oversee the entire production process, ensuring materials are released to the shop floor and that all necessary implements for production are available.
Fully utilize the Oracle system to plan, implement and maintain production schedules.
Proactively identify production constraints, bottlenecks, and material‑flow issues, performing root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Take a leading role to resolve problem situations affecting scheduled production.
Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs while improving production processes and product quality.
The ability to work effectively with diverse departments, including engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain.
Effect changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
Compile status and performance reports and submit them to management in a timely manner.
Promptly inform the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
Verify that materials, equipment, and staffing are ready in time to meet scheduled production dates. Ideal candidates should have a work history that demonstrates their ability to successfully work in an environment that requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to multi‑task, and have excellent computer and customer‑service skills, and have prior experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Maintain the production schedule with weekly updates, make real‑time changes, and inform stakeholders of any changes, while evaluating the feasibility of those recommended changes.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience in a Supply Chain environment.
Experience working with MRP/ERP systems – a plus.
Prior planning and scheduling experience – a plus.
Basic understanding of MS Office (Excel, Outlook).
Detail‑oriented and able to multi‑task throughout the day.
Enjoy communication and being the person who provides the most up‑to‑date status.
