- $7,500 will be paid upon hire and $7,500 will be paid upon successful completion of training. You must meet the criteria above and be hired after October 1, 2025. - You must be currently employed as a 911 Emergency Communications Dispatcher for a Law Enforcement Agency located in another state, with a minimum of TWO YEARS of experience in law enforcement dispatching. Payment
- $10,000 will be paid upon hire and $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of training. You must meet the criteria above and be hired after January 1, 2026. - The Coral Springs, Parkland, and Coconut Creek Emergency Communications Center (ECC) answers all emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and emergency medical services. In addition to the call-taking function, the ECC serves as the dispatch center for the Cities of Coral Springs and Coconut Creek for Police, Fire and EMS and the City of Parkland for Fire and EMS services only. The ECC is responsible for the safety of police officers and firefighter/paramedics, coordinating the assignment of officers to incidents. - The current starting salary for a 911 Emergency Communications Dispatcher I is $57,348.04 with a lifetime top-out of $85,224.64. The range is periodically assessed for adjustments. Candidates with experience in a police and/or fire communications center may be eligible to be hired above the established starting salary. Newly hired dispatchers start at Dispatcher I; upon full completion of training (Call Taking, Two Channel, FD and PD Radios) employees will be moved to Dispatcher II. The current salary range for Dispatcher II is $65,124.80 with a lifetime top-out of $96,781.65. Position purpose
- Under general supervision, perform responsible, specialized work in receiving, prioritizing and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls through the police/fire communications system. Aid emergency callers to obtain essential information and dispatch appropriate personnel. The Communications Unit operates 24/7/365 and may require weekend, late-night, holidays and mandatory overtime. Responsibilities Operate a multi-line call system to receive 911 emergency and non-emergency calls and operate advanced office equipment. Receive calls, assess nature of the call, prioritize, route information to police, fire and rescue units, and provide essential instructions to callers prior to arrival of units. Alert other agencies as needed; enter information into CAD or prepare complaint cards. Dispatch police and fire units based on zone and availability; determine appropriate apparatus; track units in the field. Monitor radio frequencies and maintain contact with officers; enter information into FCIC/NCIC systems as needed. Research status of items to determine if stolen; notify appropriate agency. Coordinate tow trucks and taxis; request back-up as needed. Notify authorities of missing children information and hospital/EMS notifications as required. Communicate with callers in a professional manner; calm anxious callers and manage crisis situations. Use records systems to file and retrieve emergency records. All additional duties as assigned. High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year of previous work experience. Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work under stress. AED, CPR, and TDD Certifications preferred.
