Job Title Engineer - PM Shifts

Department Maintenance / Engineering

FLSA Status Hourly/Non‑Exempt

Reports to Chief Engineer

Job Summary Maintains the guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well‑maintained hotel.

Responsibilities

Inspect guestrooms, public space and the back of the house for areas to repair, touch up or replace.

Repair or replace items such as light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous items.

Assist other department team members in the systematic application of the preventive maintenance program.

Make records of repairs made, or areas needing further attention.

Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.

Report major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to the dispatcher for further action and, if necessary, place a room out of order.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor, such as waterproofing, shop clean‑up and labeling of hazardous materials.

Requirements

Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.

Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.

Base knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry.

Basic English language communication and mathematical skills.

High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.

Basic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry.

Ability to obtain required licenses or certificates. CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred.

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of the following personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that may pose risks: latex and/or rubber gloves, safety glasses, safety belts, protective work boots, hard hat, closed‑toe shoes with rubber soles.

Assume responsibility for reporting defective, damaged or lost PPE.

Expose to cleaning chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust and noise.
