Responsibilities Under the direction of the Telecommunications Supervisor, the Telecommunications Operator answers, evaluates and facilitates incoming calls to the Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals, Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers and associated medical offices. The Telecommunications Operator is responsible for answering the hospital emergency code phone and following written procedure including sending page messages to the code team, documenting specific patient and required information into the hospital code record and utilizing the two‑way radio communication system to keep the hospital security team up to date with emergency situations. The Telecommunications Operator monitors safety/security alarms for inpatient and the emergency departments, operating room gases and fire alarm system for Addison Gilbert Hospital. The Telecommunications Operator partners with the medical staff to assist in the completion of decedent paperwork utilizing the Massachusetts state death registry website as well as regularly communicates with funeral homes to coordinate decedent transfer out of the hospital.

Qualifications The Telecommunications Operator requires High School diploma or equivalent, excellent communication skills, exceptional customer service skills, working knowledge of e‑mail, Microsoft Office, basic understanding of medical terminology. Previous switchboard experience preferred. SPOK communication console experience preferred.

Pay Range $17.00 - $22.88 per hour. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
