Public policy analyst and recovery support innovator to enhance workplace and community culture People Advocating Recovery (PAR) envisions a Kentucky free from stigma and discrimination for people in recovery from substance use disorders. PAR is a statewide group working to eliminate barriers to recovery from substance use disorder. People Advocating Recovery provides training and support to individuals, stakeholders, and legislators to create a recovery‑inclusive environment in all sectors. We train individuals to advocate for themselves and support policy development at the state level, aiming to enrich the lives of community members by creating a Kentucky free from barriers to treatment and recovery.

Note: This position is full‑time, a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Public Relations Coordinator Responsibilities

All communications from any PAR employee must be responded to within 24 business hours, unless extenuating circumstances regarding schedules are agreed upon in advance between you and your supervisor. This includes text, phone, email, etc.

Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders and volunteers that visit our office.

Strong organizational, time‑management, and multi‑tasking skills; the ability to manage various projects and meet deadlines with fidelity.

Excellent coordination and self‑motivation to assist in office operations, training schedule, and outreach.

Ability to work with volunteers and coordinate as needed.

Administrative tasks such as compiling data and disseminating information to stakeholders.

Communicates effectively through social media, newsletters, and other forms of media to illustrate mission, vision, and project updates.

Ability to travel (local) to conferences and professional development trainings (>5% of annual time) on occasions as scheduled.

Comply with all PAR reporting procedures, most notably time‑tracking and expense reporting.

Marginal/incidental functions and other related tasks, as assigned.

Location Louisville, KY

Official Title Public Relations Coordinator

Compensation $14–16 hr (commensurate with experience)

Benefits PAR abides by all state and federal emergency paid sick leave requirements; remote/flexible schedules.

Health insurance including medical, dental, vision, and short/long term disability (50/50 of family premium)

Extensive vacation (at minimum of two weeks)

Flex time with supervisor approval and sick/mental health time (to be determined)

Required Qualifications

Support and encourage the many pathways of recovery.

Understanding of substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction.

Experience in managing social media and other forms of media to boost engagement with stakeholders.

Sensitivity and awareness of the unique needs and stigmas associated with underserved populations.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Personal experience in recovery.

Experience working successfully with stakeholders in the public health sector.

Experience working successfully with communication outlets and meeting goal parameters.

Experience working successfully with diverse communities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasionally required to stand.

Occasionally required to walk.

Occasionally required to sit.

Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.

Continually required to talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds.
