At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact: In this role, as an Ecosystem Restoration Designer you will reside within the US West Environmental Permitting and Planning (EPP) Ecosystem - Restoration & Environmental Data Management & Analysis (RE) Department. You’ll lead projects providing expertise to clients to solve problems and meet multiple design objectives, while guiding teams to execute those tasks in a high-quality manner as a subject matter expert. You will work across geographies, performance units, and departments (e.g. Water Resources and Transportation) on engineering, biology, and sustainability projects. You will be joining the RE department consisting of restoration engineers, biologists, geomorphologists, landscape architects, arborists, project managers, GSI professionals, and more. At Jacobs, we see our job as more than environmental and infrastructure consultants – our purpose is to create a more connected, sustainable world. We want you to bring your passion and expertise to our dynamic interdisciplinary team of scientist, environmental planners, engineers, landscape architects, and beyond to help solve the world’s most critical problems. Together, our team helps deliver some of the most exciting and transformative infrastructure projects in the nation, from wildlife crossings to fish passages, habitat, wetland, and stream restoration, focused on sustainability and nature based solution initiatives. This is your opportunity to act as a technical support resource specialist in the field of environmental engineering and infrastructure ecology. You’ll help advance the industry by delivering sustainable solutions for clients, partnering with Jacobs’ practitioners and subject matter experts. We’ll lean on you to support and develop engineering design, biological assessments, manage project tasks, delegate work, and collaborate with engineers, environmental staff, and other design practitioners of varying experience levels. You’ll also mentor junior and learn from senior practitioners to grow professionally. We’ll rely on you to develop and maintain strong client relationships to drive business through proposals, networking, and sole source opportunities. Duties will include project/task management, data analysis, report writing, design and engineering, field work, interagency/interdisciplinary coordination, and business development. Using your experience, you’ll be a technical lead, performing design oversight and coordinating the use of resources to accomplish quality deliverables and respond to client needs. In addition, you will lead teams consisting of stream design, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, fluvial geomorphology, and aquatic and wildlife biology staff to complete multi-discipline evaluations of streams, stream/roadway crossings, and watershed planning/analysis. Your contributions will also be individually or as the leader of design teams to prepare, and/or review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Your teams will prepare basis of design reports, provide biological and geomorphic assessments, develop H&H models, floodplain analysis, bridge scour evaluation, wildlife-vehicle collision analysis, and habitat connectivity modeling. Clients often include DOTs, Sound Transit, Cities, Counties, Districts at both a local level in Washington, nationally and potentially on a global scale supporting international projects. Agencies frequently engaged are Department of Fish and Wildlife, local tribal entities, and the Army Corps. Part of your role will be to build trust with clients as a seller-doer, to help with early, middle, and end game sales support. As a trusted partner external and internal to Jacobs, you will represent our One Jacobs capabilities to make sure we meet and exceed expectations.
